SRED Conducted a planning meeting which was held on 14th December 2024 at Anna Nagar. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Fatima. Senior Advocate Arokiamani Raj, Social Activist Shalini, Job, Advocate Manoj, Journalist Soumya, Gejalakshmi, Saraswathi, Manogari, and Ameena participated and gave their suggestions.
During the meeting, the Panchami land given to Dalits was discussed, and it was decided to urge the Tamil Nadu government to enact a separate law on Panchami Lands to protect the land rights of Dalits. Furthermore, it was decided to select crematoriums for Dalits and to identify villages without access to crematoriums, and to conduct fact-finding in such villages and mobilize Dalit to acquire their rights legally.
Narayanapuram village in Vellore district, Mothakal village in Tiruvannamalai district, Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur district, and Elathur village in Ranipet district were listed for fact-finding in the first phase.
It was also decided in the meeting to hold a legal awareness workshop on the Constitution of India. Additionally, it was decided to provide training programs on the Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, the Domestic Violence Act, and the POCSO Act.
