S.R.E.D. (Society for Rural Education Development), conducted Agro-Ecology in Action by Youth on 23rd Saturday an awareness program tree plantation and on natural farming for school students.
The program was presided over by Dr. Burnad Fatima Natesan. The students introduced themselves and asked them to mention about their mother. Was surprising to them they realized how much their mother means to them. Gaja Uma, Poonguzali, Ameena spoke about What it means Agro-ecology and what SRED is doing about bringing awareness to youth. Job Chandran attended the program as a Special Guest and Inaugurated the Natural Seed Saving Room.
Later, Movement Leaders Uma, Anbarasi, Amirthammal, Sironmani, Chandra, Padma, Shanthi, Gejalakshmi, Saraswathi, Sharmila, Sowriyammal, Organic small Farmer Sukumar, and many others explained about the preparation of natural manure and prepared the manure with the long sized green bag and spoke about the importance of natural food to the N.S.S Students of St. Andrews Higher Secondary School, Arakkonam. The students were divided into small groups assisted by women leaders and planted the saplings of goa, lime, palm seeds, adadoda were planted throughout the campus. The program ended with singing and sharing experiences by the students. Very useful day with more interest and energy shown by the youth.
