SRED believes in economic empowerment of Dalit and Tribal communities. SRED has been conducting tailoring courses and sewing machines are distributed through which women have become entrepreneurs. There are regular training on sanitary items, paper cup making, rope making and the participants are supported to start the business.
Livestock are distributed as an economic empowerment program for women farmers. Follow up activities are organized with vetinary Doctors on livestock management.
SRED has been successfully running tailoring program for forty years. The centers were established in six villages namely Ulliambakkam, kallaru,Palavoy,Mulvoy, Ananthapuram, and Kaveriraja puram. Four thousand eight hundred women have passed out of this course and became entrepreneurs and tailoring teachers. The training certificate enabled them to seek Government loans.
