The concept of the Community College is an alternative system of education aimed at empowering the disadvantaged and the underprivileged, including the urban poor, rural poor, and women. Through appropriate skills development leading to gainful employment in collaboration with local industry and community, the goal is to achieve skills for employment and self-employment for these sections of people.

The Andavan Community College trained the marginalized to access skill training which included destitute, physically challenged students from the Dalit and Irular community, who were economically and socially weaker and dropouts from schools and colleges.

The students, both men and women, got certified programs such as Diploma in Natural farming, Tailoring and Garment making, Driving and Auto mobile Servicing, Solar energy, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical and Electronic skills, Banking and Micro Finance.

Monthly stipend of Rs. 500 was provided to the students and free lunch was given. Hundred students were benefited out of this program. The students are employed in local industries and have become entrepreneurs too.
